Who Stands Behind Boardwalk Entertainment?

Boardwalk Entertainment is the collaboration of Shawn and Carolyn Cox, two seasoned event professionals based right here in Hampton Roads. Their serendipitous meeting while working together at The Chrysler Museum of Art back in 2008 led to their own dream wedding, and a partnership that brings over 35 years of combined experience in the wedding and event industry.


Shawn, a well-known local disc jockey since 1989, has had a successful career in the entertainment industry. Previously co-owner of a prominent Virginia Beach-based entertainment company, Shawn's entrepreneurial spirit led him to identify the untapped photo booth market in our area back in 2009. Known for his dedication to exceptional customer service, Shawn made a deliberate shift from the high-volume "corporate DJ world" to launch Boardwalk Entertainment. His focus on creating memorable experiences through engaging music, high-end photo booths, and uplighting has set him apart in the industry. Shawn remains a highly sought-after wedding disc jockey in the area and is currently available for limited bookings through 2025. With a reputation for using the latest sound and lighting equipment and keeping the dance floor energy high throughout your celebration, his expertise in creating the perfect musical atmosphere for weddings has made him a favorite choice among couples looking to make their special day unforgettable.


Carolyn is also the owner of Carolyn Celeste Weddings, a well-known wedding coordinating and consulting service located in the Hampton Roads area. With a reputation for her laid-back style, meticulous attention to detail, and sweet Virginia charm, Carolyn has garnered glowing reviews from numerous satisfied clients throughout the years.
